OVERVIEW

Mission Statement

To provide a comprehensive overview of sustainable development within the South African business sector. Specifically cleaner production and resource-efficient technologies as well as best-practices in sustainable development partnerships will be covered.

Sustain 2009 is a yearbook aimed at reflecting the progress made on Sustainable Development in South Africa over the past 15 years. Following the Rio Earth Summit in 1992 and the Johannesburg World Summit in 2002; it will question how far South African business and industry has come in attaining these social responsibility and sustainability goals?

The yearbook will also look at the latest technologies and trends affecting sustainable development, and will be catagorised in line with South Africa¹s most important industrial sectors. A chapter will be allocated to each sector. These are, mining and quarrying, energy, civil construction, building and architecture, equipment (earthmoving, mining and construction), water, urban and environmental planning, facilities management.

The publication is an information exchange. From large scale corporate and industrial entities to small scale enterprises looking to exchange information and promote their efforts in cleaner production or efficient resource usage. It will present business opportunities to the entrepreneur and deliver intelligence to those hungry for knowledge. It will be a profound vehicle for advertisers to portray their sustainable development initiatives.
